Slippery Edges – a solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Claire Paugam – deals with the porous, the unstable and ever changing thin line between the outside and the inside, between different realms of reality. Throughout various artforms (sculptures, installations, collages), Claire leads the viewer into a visual questioning in which elements neverreally find their shape.
“Claire Paugam works in layers, overlapping textures, and colours. Her supports are video, photography installation and performance. The textures are used to unify body andnature, as a reflection over the universal, composing a kindof sensorial diaries of the landscape. Claire does not take life, does not isolate the Human flesh,she animates an inanimate object as if she has blown into it the breath of life. In her practice we may see both the will to animate pieces and objects, and sometimes we may feelthat the objects are the ones boosting the reification of thelandscape, always raising questions about the matter, or what is or is not tangible to the look.”

Claire Paugam is a multidisciplinary French artist (born 1991) based in Reykjavík.
After graduating from the MFA program of the Iceland Acad- emy of the Art in 2016, Claire exhibited at the 5th Biennale for Young Art, Moscow. She traveled to another volcanic island, Reunion Island (East coast of Africa) where she was a teacher assistant at the Art Academy. Claire exhibited her artworks in various art institutions in France and Iceland,her first solo exhibition MIDSCAPE was held at Listastofanlast year.
