The Alliance Française offers a monthly musical moment for children aged 0 to 5 in the libraries of the city of Reykjavík.

The music kiosk is aimed at French-speaking and non-French-speaking children. Antoine sings nursery rhymes from the traditional or more recent repertoire on the guitar. During this period, a few instruments are made available to children who can play music, sing at the top of their voices, dance or listen quietly, as they wish!

Listening to nursery rhymes allows you to discover the culture of a country and for others to stay in touch with their culture of origin. Children’s songs also allow language development by exposing little ears to the particular sounds of a language and by improving pronunciation and vocabulary memorization through repetition.

Musicien

Hello! My name is Antoine Méra, I am 25 years old and I have been living in Iceland for two years. I work in after-school care in a school in Reykjavík with children aged 5 to 10. I run a small music club there.

I grew up with music. Both my parents were members of a small brass band. In this small orchestra, we saw some who had not yet lost their baby teeth, side by side with little fathers with greying hair who had lost all theirs…

Music unites, and speaks a language understood by all, including little ones. So join us!

Partenaires

We thank the French Embassy in Iceland for taking charge of the purchase of the musical instruments.
